Caryn Heyman In 'The Little House'
Scroll down for the list of charities that Caryn held close to her heart.
Note: This is Caryn's entry to the album page. She was already bravely battling her illness when she sent in these pictures and comments.
On this page you will find two pictures of me. One is circa 1967, when I was in the Little House (are those Sue and Harry's legs in the background?)....the other picture is of me today, circa 2001.
A lot has happened from 1967 till 2001...but one thing that has remained are the great memories of Camp Shoshana. I find it so amazing that after all of these years, there is still such a bond between all of us (and that I still remember all the words to so many of the songs).
I have recently made contact with Jeff Sternstein (aka the first boy I ever kissed), Harold Moroknek and Karen Weissman. It's so great to reconnect with my past. It is hard to imagine that everyone is 20+ years older than the last time I saw them. Actually, after seeing the pictures that Karen W. sent in, I think I am glad to be older...I can't believe I ever looked like that!
I hope to see everyone at the Camp Shoshana reunion, where we can catch up in person.

          Love to all,
          Caryn

Note from Steve:
Dear friends,
It is with a heavy heart that I tell you of the passing of one of our own - Caryn Heyman. Karen Weissman and I were at Caryn's funeral on Monday, March 18th, 2002. Caryn's parents, sister Lori and boyfriend Steve all spoke lovingly of her. It was a heart rending service.
Karen and I listened knowingly as they detailed the many wonderful, charitable and altruistic things Caryn had done in her short adult life. We reflected on how the great child/teenager that we knew from Camp Shoshana had grown to be an even greater person in her adult life.
Caryn's sister Lori wanted all of us to know that our e-mail and phone calls to Caryn these past few months gave her comfort and lifted her spirits.

You can contact Caryn's mother Estelle by email at ebheyman@msn.com.
Caryn's parents' address is as follows:
Bob and Estelle Heyman
2549 Phillip Court
Bellmore, NY 11710

Many of you have inquired about making donations in Caryn's memory.
A list of suggested charities was handed out at the memorial service that Sue Rachlin and I attended on April 17.In the merit of Chaya Golda (Caryn's Hebrew name) feel free to contribute to any one of them.
